Jadon Sancho Returns to Manchester United Training After 10-Month Hiatus
Jadon Sancho has rejoined Manchester United training for the first time in 10 months. Positive discussions between the winger and manager Erik ten Hag have resolved their past differences.
Sancho is now training with the Red Devils’ senior squad at Carrington, alongside other stars like Marcus Rashford. Old Trafford boss Ten Hag is looking forward to a fresh start with Sancho, who had an extended break after playing in the Champions League final on loan for Borussia Dortmund.
Despite his return to full training, the 24-year-old will not travel to Norway for United’s friendly against Rosenberg on Monday due to his later start to pre-season. United are focused on getting the 23-cap Englishman up to speed, with the club confirming his return for testing on Wednesday and subsequent training with the group on Thursday. Other key players, including Andre Onana, Casemiro, Mason Mount, and Marcus Rashford, have also been back at Carrington this week.
Last September, after being benched for a Premier League match against Arsenal, Sancho fell out with Ten Hag. In response to accusations of inadequate training, Sancho claimed on social media that he had been “a scapegoat for a long time.” Ten Hag subsequently froze the £73 million signing from Dortmund, leading to Sancho’s loan back to his former German club in January. His strong performance there even led to a recall for the Three Lions, although he is not expected to make Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad.
