Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen continued his stellar form from the previous match against Slovenia with another impressive performance in midfield, this time against England.
Despite Denmark creating more chances than England, Eriksen’s determined efforts were not enough, and they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The deadlock was broken by Harry Kane for England in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a cross inside the box from Bayern Munich’s star, putting the ball into the net.
Denmark swiftly equalized 16 minutes later through Morten Hjulmand.
Denmark had a total of 16 shots, with seven on target, while Gareth Southgate’s side managed 12 shots, with only four troubling Kasper Schmeichel.
Eriksen once again stood out as Denmark’s standout player, despite having just one off-target shot in his 82 minutes on the field before being substituted for Andreas Skov Olsen.
He completed one dribble and had 52 touches, successfully completing 29 out of 33 passes, including four key passes. Eriksen attempted five crosses and one long ball, successfully connecting with two crosses and the long ball.
He won all five of his ground duels and made four tackles, not needing to contest any aerial challenges.
Eriksen’s Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund also featured, playing for 67 minutes before being substituted. Hojlund had 17 touches and successfully made two key passes out of eight attempted.
Scoring the equalizer, Hojlund won two out of three ground duels but lost all three aerial challenges. He also contributed with two tackles.
The draw against England positioned Denmark in second place in Group C, with two points from two games. They will aim for victory against Serbia next, seeking to secure their progression to the next round of the Euros.
