Chelsea is edging closer to appointing Leicester’s Enzo Maresca as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino, with hopes of a deal being signed within the next 72 hours. Preliminary talks regarding the appointment of the Italian coach have been expedited over the weekend.

The Blues have sought permission from Leicester to hold formal discussions with Maresca. Leicester would receive a compensation fee of £10 million if Maresca joins Chelsea. Following the completion of these procedures, the London club aims to finalize the negotiation process by midweek. Mail Sport understands that Maresca intends to bring along a maximum of five staff members. Willy Caballero, former Chelsea goalkeeper, is expected to be among the coaches following Maresca’s move to Stamford Bridge.

The 44-year-old manager is likely to receive a substantial salary increase, although the wage at Chelsea would still be lower than the £10.4 million salary Pochettino previously received. Once all salary figures are agreed upon, Maresca’s appointment is expected to proceed smoothly.
