NBA star Jayson Tatum, joined by his Boston Celtics colleague Jon Rahm, recently participated in the FedEx St. Jude Championship Pro-Am. Although Tatum is no stranger to golf, this was his first time competing in a PGA TOUR pro-am event. Tatum admitted to feeling losing sleep in the days leading up to the event, especially with the anticipation of playing alongside Rahm.
Before making his debut in the pro-am event at TPC Southwind in Memphis, we had the opportunity to interview the 6-foot-11-inch forward, Tatum, about his golf equipment preferences. Notably, Tatum chooses extra-large grips to accommodate his unusually large hands. His bag includes a customized Scotty Cameron TourType SSS putter, lovingly named “Deuce” in honor of his son Jayson Jr. Additionally, he uses a combination of irons, carries a baby blue Jordan brand golf bag embroidered with his “JT” emblem, and, according to his stepfather and caddie, he is continuously trying out new PXG irons. To add a personal touch to his gear, Tatum’s Titleist golf ball, known as the “Big Deuce,” bears his own stamped emblem.
