The Argentina team captain, who led his country to victory in the World Cup, had to withԀгaw from the national squad for the March international friendlies due to an ιnjᴜry sustained during Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Nashville earlier this month. 

Di Maria, known for his close relationship with Messi, has expressed that the 36-year-old’s ιnjᴜry could be a positive development for Argentina, emphasizing the importance of maintaining composure as they prepare to defend their title at the 2024 Copa America later in the year. In an interview with D Sports, the Benfica player remarked, “Leo’s absence is always felt. Training and playing alongside the greatest player in history is invaluable. While it’s unfortunate that he’s injured now, we need to stay calm. It’s better that it happened now, ensuring he’ll be fit for the Copa America.”

Speaking to D Sports, the Benfica star said: “Leo is always missed. Having the best in history, being able to train and play with him is the best. It’s a shame that this [ιnjᴜry] happened to him now, but we have to be calm. It’s better that it happened now and he is fine for the Copa America.”

Following their 3-0 victory over El Salvador in a friendly match, La Albiceleste will face Costa Rica on Tuesday. Subsequently, Argentina will shift their focus to the Copa America in the United States, where they are set to commence their title defense on June 20th.
