According to the English media, the top brass at Chelsea are considering Hansi Flick as a potential replacement for Mauricio Pochettino.

Argentinian coach Mauricio Pochettino endured a peculiar first season at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea languished in an unacceptable 11th position in the Premier League, they reached the Carabao Cup final and made it to the FA Cup semi-finals.

Pochettino’s youthful and inconsistent team has been a mystery this season, and their inability to perform in the league has heightened pressure on the manager. With concerns over Chelsea’s Financial Fair Play situation, the prospect of missing out on European competition in the second season could lead to an uncertain future for the 52-year-old manager. While Chelsea’s owners want to maintain faith in the Argentine strategist, having sacked two head coaches under Todd Boehly’s tenure, parting ways with Pochettino is also within the realm of possibility.

Chelsea Mulling Over Flick

One of the potential replacements under consideration is Hansi Flick, as reported by GIVEMESPORT. The former Bayern Munich coach has been unemployed since being sacked by the German national team last year.

Flick is reportedly learning Spanish as he’s keenly interested in the soon-to-be vacant managerial position at Barcelona, but Chelsea is still said to be “discussing” the German coach as a potential option to replace Pochettino.

Journalist Ben Jacobs revealed to GIVEMESPORT: “When we hear many names linked to Chelsea, it doesn’t mean they’re standing behind Pochettino’s back and inviting someone else to work. It means Chelsea is building relationships, they’re monitoring everyone, and they know who’s available on the transfer market.”

“So if Chelsea has to make a change, whether this summer or in the years to come, the club has suitable relationships, they have relevant information, good data, and people they can bring into the boardroom. That’s smart.”

“In that context, Hansi Flick is a name to consider and has been mentioned internally as part of the regular succession plan. There are other names that Chelsea is discussing, but not in the sense of an emergency meeting to find a replacement.”
