Kawhi Leonard Exits Game vs. Timberwolves with ‘Thoracic Spasms’: Clippers Star’s Injury Update

Kawhi Leonard 03122024

Kawhi Leonard left the Clippers’ game against the Timberwolves after the first quarter Tuesday — and then exited Crypto.com Arena — without any immediate explanation.

Leonard, 32, appeared on the Clippers’ injury report with “left groin soreness” ahead of the contest against Minnesota, but he didn’t appear to tweak anything in his first stint of the game.

The All-Star forward has been relatively healthy this season, appearing in 58 of LA’s 64 games to this point. He could even be considered an outside candidate for MVP, averaging 24.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game.

Suffice to say, Leonard’s health is extremely important if the Clippers are going to make a long-awaited NBA Finals run.

The Sporting News has you covered with the latest updates on the two-time Finals MVP.

Leonard mysteriously left the bench after the first quarter of the Clippers’ game against the Timberwolves on Tuesday. The star forward was seen heading to the locker room and, shortly after, leaving the arena.

An injury was assumed — Leonard was on the pregame injury report with left groin soreness — but nothing was confirmed until halftime.

Leonard was ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday’s game with “thoracic spasms,” or, in simpler terms, back spasms.

While this injury seemed sudden, TNT’s Stephanie Ready later reported that Leonard started the game with back spasms. He tried to play through it but wasn’t moving or feeling well.

Leonard missed Sunday’s game against the Bucks due to groin soreness, but that also came on the second night of a back-to-back, so he may have been taking a rest day.

Now a new ailment has popped up for the oft-injured superstar. Check back for updates as they become available.

Clippers upcoming schedule

The Clippers are 41-23 and sitting in fourth place in the West following Tuesday’s loss to the Timberwolves. They are 3.5 games back from the Nuggets and Thunder, who are tied for first place.
