Specifically, Furnell-Gill (17 years old), had to receive a disciplinary sentence after the fiery encounter between Liverpool and Man Utd in the U18 Premier League North on January 30. The video spread on social networks showed the aftermath. This defender played so harshly that he elbowed Man United’s young player, Wheatley.

In that match, Wheatley was the one who scored the 1-1 equalizer for U18 MU. Other names to score for Man United’s youth team were Jayce Fitzgerald, Ethan Williams and James Scanlon. In the end, MU’s young team won with a score of 4-3.

In fact, Furnell-Gill was also warned many times by the match referee but was not disqualified. Furnell-Hill’s tricks were very hidden and could probably only be detected by VAR.

A report from the Liverpool ECHO adds that academy director Alex Inglethorpe personally contacted his United colleagues the morning after the unfortunate incident to apologize for Furnell-Gill’s behaviour. The former Preston North End youth player is said to have expressed remorse for his actions.

Furnell-Gill joined Liverpool’s academy from Preston at U15 level and moved from a winger to a centre-back. The Steeton-born prоspect was given his U18 debut last season while he was still an U16 player.
