Russell Westbrook of the Los Angeles Clippers has a fractured left hand.
Russell Westbrook, the point guard for the Los Angeles Clippers, suffered a fracture to his left hand on Friday night. When Westbrook tried to steal off Jordan Poole in the first half of LA’s victory over the Washington Wizards, he was injured.
James Harden, a key player for the Clippers, remarked to reporters following the game, “I don’t know what’s going on.” I had no idea. Everything he contributes to the game will be missed. His energy, playmaking prowess, leadership qualities, and athleticism.”
In order to equal Westbrook’s output, Harden continued, the entire Los Angeles team will need to put in a concerted effort, especially during transition. This season, Westbrook has contributed significantly to the Clippers as their backup point guard, a position that frequently necessitates him to alter the course of a game as soon as he arrives.
Although Westbrook’s scoring is always the main attraction, his defence has been crucial for the Clippers this year, limiting opponents to 43.2% shooting from the field. With as many shots defended as Westbrook has this season, his defensive field goal % is 14th in the NBA and leads the Clippers.
Now that Bones Hyland will be playing in place of Westbrook, LA will need to work out a lot about their rotation. It will probably take more changes than just switching Westbrook for Hyland.
