After Jack Grealish was pulled off the pitch during Manchester City’s FA Cup triumph at Luton Town, Pep Guardiola is concerned that he may have suffered a recurrence of the groyne ιnjury he just sustained.
Grealish, who is 28 years old, hobbled off the pitch in the 38th minute of the encounter that took place at Kenilworth Road. Jeremy Doku came in to take his place on the pitch.
As a result of a groyne ιnjury, the England international was forced to be substituted off during City’s Champions League round of 16 first leg triumph over FC Copenhagen earlier this month. The encounter that took place on Tuesday night marked his comeback to first-team play.
In the beginning, there was apprehension that Grealish could be unable to play for an extended period of time. However, he rejoined the substitutes’ bench for the victory over Bournemouth on Saturday and was also reinstated to the starting lineup for the match against Luton.
In order to secure their spot in the FA Cup quarterfinals, City defeated Luton by a score of 6-2. Erling Haaland scored five goals for the visitors, and Mateo Kovacic also found the back of the net for City. The squad captained by Rоb Edwards had two goals scored by Jordan Clark, but City was able to emerge victorious with a resounding victory.
The ιnjury sustained by Grealish, on the other hand, brought a negаtive note to the evening for City, and Guardiola felt that the former Aston Villa playmaker had aggravated the same groyne issue.
“I didn’t speak to the doctor but he complained a little bit about the groyne, maybe it is quite similar,” Guardiola said after the match that took place on Tuesday night. It was sad that he had an ιnjury, but he was feeling really, really well. This has been a challenging season for him, and he has to make a speedy recovery.
Over the course of this season, Grealish has made 26 appearances for City, during which he has scored three goals and contributed two assists.
This coming Sunday, City will make their return to action in the Premier League when they play host to Manchester United.
