Real Madrid Reaches Agreement with Bayern’s ‘Left Flank Hurricane’

Real Madrid has reached a verbal agreement with Alphonso Davies for the defender to move to Bernabeu in the summer of 2024 or 2025.

Alphonso Davies’ contract with Bayern Munich is set to expire in June 2025. Despite multiple extension offers from Bayern, the Canadian defender has consistently declined negotiations.

The La Liga club, led by Sporting Director Juni Calafat and General Director Jose Angel Sanchez, has been in contact with Davies’ team for some time, and both parties have verbally agreed.

Alphonso Davies is certain to leave Bayern Munich for Real Madrid; the only question is the timing. Real Madrid has presented two options to the “Bavarians”: signing Alphonso Davies at a reduced price this summer, similar to Toni Kroos in 2014, or waiting to acquire the Canadian defender on a free transfer in the summer of 2025, akin to David Alaba’s case in 2021.

According to The Athletic, Bayern Munich is reluctant to lose their “left flank hurricane.” If they cannot extend Alphonso Davies’ contract, they will seek the best possible sale this summer.

Alphonso Davies joined Bayern Munich in January 2019 from MLS team Vancouver Whitecaps. Since then, he has played a total of 180 matches, contributing to Bayern’s 5 Bundesliga titles and 1 Champions League championship. At Bernabeu, Davies will compete for a position with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia.
