This marks the initial instance in the 30-year history of their data polling that a soccer star has claimed the top spot. In a single quarter, the Argentine has secured the position of America’s favorite, placing him in esteemed company.

Other renowned figures such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Peyton Manning, Kobe Bryant, Steph Curry, LeBron James, and Tom Brady are among those who, like the Argentine, have held the No. 1 spot for only a quarter. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the Argentine joined this elite group, following an outstanding debut season in MLS and securing victory in the inaugural Leagues Cup.
