Cesc Fabregas, a former player for Arsenal and Chelsea, called Rasmus Hojlund “a kind of Van Nistelrooy type of finisher.” This description is likely to give the Manchester United forward even more confidence.
After joining the Red Devils from Atalanta over the summer, the 21-year-old took some time to get going, but he has now spectacularly returned to form.
The Danish international has netted goals in his previous six Premier League games and eight goals in his previous eight games overall.
With Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Hojlund flanking him, Erik ten Hag looks to have found his finest front three combinations, and it is showing results.
Undoubtedly impressed, Fabregas likened the Dane to a player who, in just 219 games, scored 150 goals for Manchester United.
“He’s very smart and attacks the box really well,” Fabregas said on the BBC’s Planet Premier League.
When he gets his confidence back, he finishes like a Van Nistelrooy sort of player. I think he has the potential to be one of United’s best strikers in the future.
“You will always get the best out of Garnacho when you have this plus a very good player one-on-one who is making crosses all the time.”
For Manchester United, Hojlund, Garnacho, 19, and Kobbie Mainoo, 18, have all been making an impression lately, and Fabregas is happy to see the three young players take centre stage.
“It’s wonderful to see the young players playing well because it’s evident that it’s given them the confidence to demonstrate their abilities,” he remarked.
They play with a great deal of intention. And it’s wonderful to see because big clubs these days don’t seem to have that anymore.
