Evans Exemplifies Manchester United’s Defensive Strength

Everton’s former midfielder Leon Osman has talked about Jonny Evans’s performance against Luton Town. Evans, 36, was substituted in at halftime to help shore up the defence.

“I felt that in the second half, he embodied Manchester United’s defensive philosophy. He has excellent organisational skills. He was conscious of his surroundings at all times. According to Osman’s explanation on Match of the Day 2, “He defended every ball that came into the penalty area.”

“He didn’t mind eliminating it altogether, or if it was required, he didn’t mind bringing the old hoof up the pitch. That was a physical challenge he accepted. It’s definitely a soothing effect on folks in front of you when you have that sort of experience and those kind of guys in your corner.

“I believe that as he began to drive ahead, it was a little concerning. I had the impression that he was hoping to score Manchester United’s crucial third goal. “Get back, Jonny, where are you going?” was what we were yelling.
