The captain of the French national team conveyed to his PSG teammates last week that he intends to depart the club as a free agent after the 2023-24 season. Following his announcement, Mbappe has been associated with various potential destinations, including his long-time admirers Real Madrid, as well as Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Manchester City. However, according to Marca, the 25-year-old has already reached an agreement with Real Madrid and is set to be officially introduced by the club during the summer.

According to the report, Real Madrid initiated contact with the player in the initial week of January to confirm his continued interest in joining them. After receiving the player’s approval, managing director Jose Angel Sanchez commenced negotiations with him and his mother and agent Fayza Lamari for a five-year contract. 

While Real Madrid is said to have compromised on the player’s image rights, his wages are expected to be significantly lower than what he received in the past two years at Paris Saint-Germain. Nevertheless, Mbappe is poised to become the highest-paid player at the club, with anticipated earnings ranging from €15 million (£13 million/$16 million) to €20 million (£17 million/$22 million) per year, inclusive of bonuses tied to performance objectives.

Real Madrid, currently leading La Liga, is expected to introduce the prominent footballer to their fans around July, potentially between his involvement in the Euros and the Paris Olympics with the France national team. Despite the upcoming move, Mbappe is presently concentrating on his duties with Paris Saint-Germain, who hold a substantial 13-point lead at the summit of the Ligue 1 table and are well-positioned to secure another title.
