The reputable Spanish sports newspaper, Marca, asserts that Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe have completed negotiations. On the afternoon of February 19, Marca released information stating that Kylian Mbappe had reached an agreement with Real Madrid. The two parties reportedly finalized the deal two weeks ago but decided to keep the information confidential.

Earlier in January, Real Madrid had contacted Mbappe when he had six months left on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The negotiations between the Bernabeu-based club and Mbappe’s team were described by Marca as “smooth.” Although there were minor obstacles regarding image rights, Real Madrid agreed to the request of President Florentino Perez.

In return, the French star accepted a lower salary compared to his time at PSG. It is reported that Mbappe agreed to play for Real Madrid for five years with an annual salary of around 15 to 20 million euros. This figure is significantly lower than the fixed salary of 26 million euros per year that Mbappe received from PSG. This helps Real Madrid ensure the stability of the salary fund. In addition to the fixed salary, Mbappe will receive additional bonuses based on the agreement in the contract.

Last week, the captain of the French national team personally met with PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi to inform him of his departure. This move indicates Kylian Mbappe’s determination to play for Real Madrid.

This transfer could have happened earlier in 2022. At that time, Mbappe was also nearing the end of his contract with PSG, and there were many rumors that he was negotiating with Real Madrid.
