Raphael Varane, a defender for Manchester United, believes Willy Kambwala, a colleague, will have a good future. One of the greatest defenders of the contemporary era, the Frenchman has encouraged fellow countryman Kambwala to establish himself in the starting lineup. Manchester United has witnessed the senior-level opportunities given to a number of young players from the academy under Erik ten Hag’s tenure at the club. Alejandro Garnacho is already a standout player for the Red Devils, while Kobbie Mainoo has established himself as a bit of a regular this season.

The next big star to emerge from the senior team appears to be Kambwala. This season, minutes in the Premier League and FA Cup have been awarded to the youthful Frenchman.

The 19-year-old has played in just four games for the Red Devils thus far, most of them as a reserve. Even though Manchester United lost 2-0, he made an impression on the crowd when he started his first Premier League away game against West Ham United in December.

Varane has predicted his young countryman for a bright future while waxing poetic about him. According to Express Sport, the World Cup-winning France international stated: “He is showing his qualities. I think he will play more matches in the future and continue to improve. He is very young, but he is showing his qualities and we trust him. He has a great future.”

Kambwala joined the Red Devils as a 16-year-old in 2020 from Sochaux and has been impressive in their youth ranks. He has so far made four appearances this season and looks like a solid ball-playing defender in the making.
