After confirming that Lisandro Martínez’s ιnjury, which forced him off against West Ham, was not an anterior cruciate ligament tear as feared, Manchester United hopes the defender will be ready to return by the end of March.
Martinez’s right knee’s medial collateral ligament was injᴜred, but surgery is not necessary. He will miss at least seven games because United wants him back after the international break next month; if the side advances to the FA Cup quarterfinals, that number would jump to eight.
The team revealed in a statement on Monday that Lisandro would be sidelined for at least eight weeks due to damage to his medial collateral ligament in his knee.
The news is better than it first seemed when Erik ten Hag claimed on Sunday that Martínez’s ιnjury “seems bad” and was a “disаster,” but the Argentina international’s season is still going to be challenging.
Due to a foot ιnjury, Martínez missed play from late September to mid-January; this was only his fourth back and tenth appearance of the season. Against West Ham, he played.
Martínez wrote on X on Monday night, saying, “I want to reassure you that I’ll soon be back out there and we’ll figҺt together and to give a heartfelt thanks for the great support I’ve received.” Always unified!
Alejandro Garnacho, who scored twice in United’s 3-0 victory over the Hammers at Old Trafford, meantime, urged the team to build on their success and aim for the Champions League spots.
He remarked, “I always try to help by either scoring or assisting.” “We need to win and rank in the top six once more, regardless of how many points Marcus Rashford or Rasmus Højlund score.”
