Chelsea suffered a comeback defeat at home against Wolves, as they opened the scoring but eventually lost 2-4 at Stamford Bridge in the 23rd round of the Premier League. 

Following a heavy 1-4 defeat to Liverpool in the previous week, Chelsea faced another setback, conceding four goals this time, with Pochettino’s team scoring more than once. Chelsea started confidently at home, aggressively attacking from the kickoff, and took the lead in the 18th minute. Caicedo’s well-placed pass allowed Palmer to shoot from the right inside the penalty area, beating the goalkeeper Sa.

However, Chelsea’s lead only lasted for 4 minutes. In the 22nd minute, Caicedo lost possession in midfield, providing Wolves with a fast counter-attack opportunity. Cunha’s shot from the edge of the penalty area deflected off Silva’s leg, changing direction and finding the net as Petrovic failed to stop it.

Despite having less ball possession, Wolves showcased better attacking prowess than the home team in the first half. In the 43rd minute, Ait-Nouri appeared to shoot towards the far corner, but the ball deflected off Disasi’s leg, resulting in an own goal.

Trailing after the first half, Chelsea entered the second half with determination to find an equalizer. However, the home team couldn’t sustain the attacking pressure. In the 63rd minute, Neto made a powerful breakthrough from the right and provided a favorable pass for Cunha to score, extending the lead to 3-1.

In the 80th minute, Gusto couldn’t prevent Cunha’s breakthrough into the penalty area, committing a foul that led to a penalty for Wolves. Cunha successfully converted the penalty, making it 4-1 and securing the away team’s victory.

Chelsea’s late efforts only resulted in a second goal. Silva’s header from a short corner reduced the deficit to 2-4. However, Chelsea could only manage two goals against Wolves and bitterly suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat.

After 23 matches, Chelsea sits with 31 points, and Pochettino’s team has been overtaken by Wolves, dropping to 11th place in the standings, while Wolves climb to 10th place.
