Due to ιnjury, Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to miss the highly anticipated matchup with Lionel Messi, and instead played as a late substitution in Thursday’s friendly in Riyadh. Al Nassr easily defeated Inter Miami 6-0. Last week, Ronaldo’s calf ιnjury forced Al Nassr to postpone their two-game China tour, depriving him of what may have been his final encounter with longtime rival Messi. Together, the two have won 13 Ballon d’Or honors; last year, Messi won the trophy for an unprecedented eighth time. The last time they faced each other was in January 2023, when Messi’s PSG defeated Ronaldo’s Saudi select team 5–4.  Instead, when the Saudi Pro League team destroyed their Major League Soccer opponents, Talisca, a Brazilian, stole the show with a hat-trιck. The Saudi team scored three goals in the first twelve minutes.

Ronaldo got up to cheer from the stands after Otavio scored the game’s first goal while Miami was attempting to play out of the back. 

The second goal came from a sliding Talisca as the visitors once more paid a heavy price for giving up control close to their own box.  

The game’s first goal came from Aymeric Laporte, who beаt Miami goalie Drake Callender with a long-range free kιck from deep in his own end.

Shortly after the break, Mohammed Maran hooked in a header to add to Miami’s misery, and Talisca scored his second goal from the penalty spot.

The disparity in skill was evident even with the participation of former Barcelona players Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba; the American team was obviously fatigued from their extensive preseason trip.

After Talisca finished his treble and gave Ronaldo his trademark celebration, Messi, whose team was behind by six goals, trotted on for the final seven minutes.

Miami is traveling to Asia for games in Hong Kong and Japan as they continue to get ready for the next Major League Soccer (MLS) season, which begins on February 21.
