Following surgery for a groin ιnjury, Anthony Martial, a forward for Manchester United, will not be available until April. In another tumultuous season, the 28-year-old has managed 19 games and two goals before his contract expires this summer.
Since United supporters applauded his substitution in the 3-0 home loss against Bournemouth on December 9, Martial has not appeared in any games. “After a successful surgery to address a groin complaint, Anthony Martial will be out of action for approximately 10 weeks as he rehabilitates,” the club announced. We anticipate Anthony’s return and wish him a quick recovery.
This setback is only the most recent in a string of unfortᴜnate events for the footballer, who is expected to depart in the summer after United declined to exercise his option to extend his contract by an additional year. Despite having a stellar start to his United career—90 goals in 317 appearances—Martial has fallen short of his talent since coming from Monaco in 2015.
The way the transfer window is approached can change as a result of his absence. Since United has prioritized streamlining over acquisitions, their sole options through the middle are Rasmus Højlund and Marcus Rashford.
