Getting on the Saudi Pro League bandwagon might earn De Bruyne almost £1 million every week. The 33-year-old is content with his life in Manchester with his three children and wife, as well as his time at the Etihad. De Bruyne’s current £375,000-per-week contract has eighteen months left on it. However, City expects to achieve an arrangement that will extend his contract until the summer of 2026, exceeding ten years of service.
When Manchester City paid Wolfsburg £55 million ($69.8 million) in 2015 for a player who did not work out at Chelsea, there were concerns. De Bruyne, on the other hand, is a strong contender for the title of greatest Premier League midfielder of all time, having won five titles, two FA Cups, five EFL Cups, and the Champions League. The former Chelsea midfielder returned from a five-month ιnjᴜry layoff last week to inspire the champions to a critical 3-2 victory over Newcastle, scoring and assisting.
Talking after the match against Newcastle, Man City boss Pep Guardiola said: “Kevin is a legend. He is loved by our people and, hopefully, in the last months he can help us be there to the end. We need players like Kevin. We need him to do something special in the final third. That is not tactical ability but talent, individual talent. I think everybody agrees we made a really good performance against such a physical team in Newcastle.”
Despite the interest from Saudi Arabia and the large pay package that comes with it, it appears that the Belgian star will want to stay in England for the next few years, at least while he is still playing at his peak. He will return to action when Manchester City face Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fourth round.
