Amrabat and Morocco Kιck off AFCON with a Bright Start

Sofyan Amrabat, a midfielder for Manchester United, has started the Africa Cup of Nations on a good note by assisting Morocco in their 3-0 victory over 10-man Tanzania.

The Group F meeting in San-Pedro was opened by the Reds’ loan acquisition from Fiorentina, and it’s safe to sаy that the tournament favorites will be happy with their opening match. 

Our man Amrabat is regarded as an essential member of the squad for the 2022 World Cup semi-finalists, who are now placed 13th in FIFA’s standings and are the highest-ranked nation at AFCON.

After Tanzanian goalie Aisha Manula mishandled a free kιck, Morocco captain Romain Saiss scored from inside the box to open the score in the first half.

Twenty minutes before the half, Novatus Miroshi was sent off, effectively ending Tanzania’s hopes of pulling off an upset against one of the tournament favorites.

Azzedine Ounahi and Amine Adli played a one-two before Ounahi’s shot went into the bottom corner to double the Atlas Lions’ lead.

After finishing the game, Amrabat patrolled the park’s center.

In the 80th minute, as Tanzania attempted to break, he also contributed to Morocco’s third goal by brilliantly tackling to win back the ball. It was scored by Youssef En-Nesyri with a superb finish from Achraf Hakimi’s cross.

Morocco can now start getting ready for their match against DR Congo on Sunday, when kιckoff is set for 14:00 GMT.
