Paulo Dybala’s potential transfer to Chelsea faces a delay as his release clause with AS Roma has expired.

Despite interest from Chelsea and Aston Villa, any move for the Argentine midfielder will have to wait until the summer transfer window when a new release clause, set at 12M euros, comes into effect.

Dybala joined Roma in 2022 but is reportedly seeking a new destination amid the team’s recent struggles. The expired release clause was valid until January 15, and the next one will take effect in July.
