According to journalist Philipp Kessler, the reigning European and English champions are poised to outbid Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain for 14-year-old US wonderkid Cavan Sullivan from the Philadelphia Union.
The journalist goes on to say that the offensive midfielder’s agent, Wasserman, has already notified the other teams that the transfer race has ended and that Sullivan will join Manchester City. The player, born in September 2009, will not be permitted to go to England until he is 16. For the time being, he is expected to be loaned to Belgian team Lommel SK by City Football Group.
Sullivan is half-German from his mother’s side and hails from a family with a sporting background. His father Brendan played in the A-League while his mother was the captain of her university soccer team. Cavan’s elder brother Quinn represents the US U20 side and also plays for The Union.
Following a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Newcastle United last week, the Cityzens will now take a well-deserved holiday vacation. They will return to action on January 26 when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup fourth round.
